Someone was looking out for SOASA on June 28. It was the only day in the last seven that had no rain. The fields at the Ankeney were cut, lined and soft enough to play very well. The morning semifinals featured Ozweego (Dayton Amateur Soccer League) against Columbus City FC (Columbus Premier Soccer League). City scored in the 17th minute followed by an Ozweego goal in the 28th. That was it for Ozweego. Columbus City scored again in the 37th and 89th minutes.
In the other semi, Gunners FC (Dayton Amateur Soccer League) lined up against Capitals FC (Columbus Premier Soccer League). Gunners had no scoring punch. Capitals FC tallied at 56, 60, 72 and finally in the 79th minutes.
The exciting Final between the two CPSL teams kicked off at 2:00. Columbus City scored in the 1st minute: 12 minutes later, Capitals put one in. Then in the 54th, Capitals again found the net, thenCity evened the score in the 75th. Capitals FC scored the winning goal in the 88th, narrowly avoiding overtime.
Both CPSL teams plan on representing SOASA in the USASA Midwest Region's Tournament of Champion in Ft. Wayne, IN on July 25-26.
