The Southern Ohio Adult Soccer Association proudly announces Charles J. Keaney as recipient of the 2016 Referee Lifetime Achievement Award. He was introduced to soccer in 1977 when his young children took up the sport. He has been an official for over 37 years. In addition he has held positions locally such as an Assignor, Assessor, member of state referee academies as Mentor and Chair. He has been on the Board of the Ohio South State Referee Committee for more than 27 years. He has served as State Assignor and is presently the State Director of Instruction. He is a charter member and one of the founders of what is now the Midwest Soccer Officials Association. He serves on its board as an elected trustee.

Nationally, he has been a member of the SAY National Referee and Rules Committee for over 33 years, serving as its chairman for the past 20 years. He is also a SAY NBOD member and the National Director of Officials for SAY.

His honors include being named the Southern Ohio Adult Soccer Association’s 2001 Founder's Cup Honoree. In 2009 he was recipient of the OSSRC Ken Conselyea Award and was inducted into the Ohio Soccer Hall of Fame.
